This poem is dedicated to my son who taught me how to let go.
Sometimes I wish you were little again but I know you have your own life to live.
I Love You!

Love Requires Letting Go

Tiny hands and tiny feet I watch them as they grow.
Knowing all too well the time will come when I must let you go.

I watch each new step of independence you take with great pride.

Yet, a part of me also feels a sadness deep down inside.

I watch you as you toddle about on unsteady feet.

Knowing all too well you have a certain timetable to meet.

Wishing deep down inside there was a way that I could keep you small.

Yet. I cannot deny you the chance to sometimes on your own stumble and fall.

Tiny hands and tiny feet I watch them as they grow.

Knowing all too well the time will come when I must let you go.

Love requires I give you the freedom of your own life to live.

My child this Love is the greatest gift to you I can give.

No matter where you go or what you do my love to you I always freely give.

A LOVE that will remain even after one of us ceases to live.
