Quietness

I read in a book some poems written about quiet and it inspired me to write my own poems about quiet. There really is no such thing as total quiet. Sound is all around us. Quiet is really a contrast. For example once the train goes by and you can't hear it there is not so much noise. So you probably perceive it as being quiet.

All Is Quiet

Late at night all is quiet.
Not even the stars or moon make a sound.
No footsteps go past my window.
No noise to distract me while I write.

IT IS QUIET

The clock is quiet.
Hands stopped by time.
Only the wind whispers in the cemetery.
It is quiet.

Walking through fog..
Sounds muffled like someone has thrown blankets over the world.
I feel like I've stumbled into a surreal world.
This must be what it is like to be deaf and blind
.
