Alphabet Poems

Alphabet poems are poems that use the letters of the alphabet as departure for lines or whole lines. Sometimes a poem is about what image a letter may remind the poet of.  Or an alphabet poem could be one written a-z or z-a like I did in the poem Angels. Some poems repeat the letter which can cause a bizarre scene like I did in the poem Kaffeklatsche and may even be funny when read aloud. This poem may also send you scurrying to grab a dictionary to look up words. Law & Alphabet is based on the same style as Edward Lear's poem "Alphabet". Although the beginning letter is not necessarily repeated in the line.

Law & Alphabet

A got dressed and went to town.
B spied A and followed A around
C became suspicious of B and called the cops
D responded; who was considered a cop at the top.
E booked B and put him into jail,
F came and listened to B's sad tale.
G offered B a deal.
H listened to B's spiel.
I asked in A's behalf the case be dismissed.
J needed more facts before making a verdict so he wouldn't be remiss.
K brought forth a witness to the crime.
L said "he couldn't testify as his facts didn't rhyme.
M said "let's get on with the case at hand."
N looked at his watch wishing he was anywhere but in the witness stand.
O thought the case was rather absurd.
P figured B was destined to be a jailbird.
Q thought the case should be thrown out of court.
R thought it would be better if B wasn't so short.
S asked for a recess to take place.
T thought it a good idea so he could work on the case.
U just wanted the case to come to an end.
V thought the witness was a comedienne.
W thought the wrong person was apprehended.
X brought forth evidence that B was improperly defended.
Y pounded his gavel saying "case dismissed!"
Z left the court laughing at how the case against B had untwisted.

Kaffeeklatsch

angelic aliens
begin baking
cookies & cakes
decadent desserts
effortlessly eaten
garnished guiltlessly
"Heavenly Hash"
icecream inducing
jovial jollification
kibitzing Kaffeeklatsch
letting laughter
mirror mirth
not noisy
offensive onslaught
polished polite
quelling questions
ridiculous ravings
stated sacredly
told tactlessly
ultimately uttered
vacillating vagrancy
wandering words
xrated xerox
yarely yammered
zestfully zinged

Angels

Angels became clandestined, dehumanized, extra-terrestrial.
Found guarding humans in jails, kindergartens; lots more noted overlooked places.
Quietly reconciling Spirits till undertakers' vigil wakens xenophobe.
Yielding zombie apparitions.
