Christmas is a dark time of the year but it is also a magical time.  As lights decorate and brighten the landscape.  It is a time of the year when many people think of others.
There is magic in the air.... Christmas Magic!

I
stand
here decked
with garland and
other baubles waiting.
Waiting, for what I know not.
Jewels twinkling on my boughs.
Dressed, for a party and I wait.
Waiting for some important date.
While stacks of packages at my feet;
dressed in their Sunday best also wait.
Music fills the air. I want to dance.
Swaying in a breeze instead of standing.
The children sing. "O, Christmas tree."
A Christmas tree,
I stand and wait.
For the coming
of Christmas!

A Christmas Memory is one of my longer poems about a girl in a children's home (orphanage type place) who wants for Christmas a new blue dress with silver threads. You can read it here.
Caring people
Helping those less fortunate
Richly blessed in return
Individuals making a difference
Special Christmas stars
Taking the time during the busiest time of year
Making the holidays brighter
Angels waiting for their wings
Singing songs of "Peace on earth. Goodwill to all men"

The First Christmas Alphabet Poem

Angels appeared to shepherds.
Brilliant star pointed the way.
Christ child laid in a manger safe.
Darkness in Herod's heart.
Every young male child ordered to be killed.
Following the star wise men from the east.
Gifts of Frankincense and Myrrh carried.
Heaven come down to earth with a baby's birth.
Inns in town were all full.
Just a lowly stable was empty and waiting.
King of kings borne that Holy night.
Love descended from heaven in the form of a child.
Manger of hay his cradle.
Noel the angels did sing.
Offering hope to a weary world.
Peace on earth the message of that first Christmas.
Queries made by Herod about the Christ child's whereabouts.
Rage his consuming emotion.
Slaying of innocent children the end result.
The first Christmas a bittersweet time.
Under the night sky shepherds tended their flocks.
Visible to them was the bright Star.
While angels appeared proclaiming the "good news".
Xed out by God the sins of humankind.
Years later the wonder, miracle of that first Christmas remembered.
Zion also remembered as Christ's birth and death are intertwined.
As you celebrate Christmas with your love ones may you remember;
"The First Christmas" when love came down to earth with a child's birth.
