In Remembrance
Your candle was too soon blown out.
So now, I will light a candle in remembrance of you.
In remembrance of your light.
Your very essence, your flower was crushed.
So now, I will bring flowers in remembrance.
In remembrance, of your sweet fragrance.
Your presence made the world a better place.
So now, I will strive to make the world a better place.
A place where there lives PEACE.
In remembrance of your courage and grace.

I say a prayer.
As I look up at the stars.
The sky, velvety black.
A beautiful starry sea.
A backdrop, for lovers as they kiss.
Unmarred by blood.
A cityscape, painted in innocent blood.
As a nation gathers in prayer.
Prayer for those who will miss a loved one's kiss.
For those who will never more look up at the stars.
A multitude of emotions raging like the sea.
Violence, painting today in blackness.
A cityscape, tonight painted in black.
As rubble lines the streets covered with blood.
Leaving many to feel as if they are adrift at sea.
Feeling sorrow as they say prayers.
Mourning the fallen stars.
Who will never more know the sun's kiss.
Never more know a lover's kiss.
Never more stand under a sky, velvety black.
Never more look up at the stars.
Others will survive this tragedy because of the gift of blood.
Because of millions of prayers.
Flowing through the world like a sea.
A beautiful, starry sea.
Humanity's healing kiss.
In the form of heartfelt prayers.
On a day which suddenly turned black.
When terrorists spilled innocent blood.
Extinguishing thousands of bright stars.
I look up at the stars.
Emotions flowing through me like a raging sea.
As I think about the senseless shedding of innocent blood.
I feel myself wanting to give those I love hugs and kisses.
Quietly, I look at the stars.
I say a prayer.
The beautiful star filled sea.
Helps to lift my own sea of blackness.
